FLIGHTS & ARRIVAL
You must book your flight to arrive at Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in in the capital city of Accra, before 6 pm local time. Flights are not included in program costs.
Your airport pick-up is included in your Program Fee. We are easily recognized at your arrival gates by holding the Volunteer Vietnam name sign. Our staff will transport you to the volunteer house/hotel by volunteer car or taxi.
VISAS & REQUIREMENTS
Visa requirements can vary from nationality to nationality. You will need a passport issued by your country of citizenship as well as a tourist visa* issued by the country to which you will be traveling. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the expected date of return to your home country.
Volunteers must have a volunteer visa or visitors volunteer with us. We will help volunteers to obtain this kind of visa before their departure. Malawi's online visa will go live next month.
Purpose of Entry: Volunteering/visitor/ VISA can also be obtained from the airport one arrived.

Note: It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you have a valid passport and the appropriate visa for travel. In most programs, you should enter as a TOURIST unless you stay for periods longer than 1 month in the same country.
Make sure you are up to date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot.
You should ideally arrange an appointment with your travel clinic at least four to six weeks before travel. This appointment provides an opportunity to assess health risks taking into account a number of factors including destination, medical history, and planned activities. In case you have pre-existing health problems, an earlier appointment is strongly recommended.
Hepatitis A - CDC recommends this vaccine because you can get hepatitis A through contaminated food or water in Malawi, regardless of where you are eating or staying.
Typhoid - You can get typhoid through contaminated food or water in Malawi. CDC recommends this vaccine for most travelers, especially if you are staying with friends or relatives, visiting smaller cities or rural areas, or if you are an adventurous eater.
Note: Vaccinations against cholera and yellow fever are required if you have been in an infected area two weeks before entry into Malawi.
